"White" Butter Icing

"White" Butter Icing

3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 Tablespoons cream
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla


1. Mix powdered sugar and butter together until well blended.
2. Add in cream and vanilla; mix until smooth.


I changed this by not requiring the powdered sugar to be sifted, and by substituting the shortening with butter. This of course makes for a more cream colored frosting rather than strictly white. If you want a truly white frosting but don't want to use shortening, then you can substitute the shortening with coconut oil; the vanilla with almond extract. Add in the cream last, a little at a time, since coconut oil is more runny than shortening and you may not need as much.
